History
Garage ALF. Tardif opens for business in 1939, founded by M. Alfred
Tardif, grand-father of present co-owner M. Claude Tardif. Three Tardif
generations have been at the heart of the business.
|
From 1939 to
1947, M. Alfred Tardif manages this service and repair station and
specializes in B-A. products. M. George Tardif, father of Claude, adds the
sale of vehicles to the services offered by the business in 1947. At the
time, the station was located on Authier avenue where Millaire
et Godbout pièces d'auto is currently located.

In the mid
1960's, Garage Tardif Ltd. acquires the Shell service station from M.
Léo Cyr. Administration and the sale of cars is transfered to the new site,
located on rue Principale at the south entrance to Amos (where Plomberie
Germain Roy is now located).
|
In 1967 the third Tardif generation gets involved in the business with the
arrival of Michel, Pierre and Claude. Afterwards, the Tardif family faces the
loss of Pierre and Michel plans
his retirement from the business. Claude Tardif becomes the last grandson of
the founder to continue the work of his family at the heart of the business.
|
With the arrival
of each generation, the reputation and success of the business continue to
evolve at an impressive rate. They realize quickly that it would be more
efficient to group all their services at a single location. In 1976, Garage
Tardif begins construction on their actual site, located at 1222,
route 111 Est in Amos.
|

|
In the early 1980's, M. Yvan Gagnon joins the team as co-owner and the site
established in 1976 is upgraded to include a workshop and a team specialized in
body work. To consolidate all GM products under one roof, this workshop is
moved for the upgrade when Garage Tardif acquires the Amos division of Gareau
Pontiac Buick Inc.
|

|
Finally, Garage
Tardif Ltd. modifies it's image to comply with GM's new image in 2003,
representing an investment of 1.2 million dollars. These modifications
involved the interior as well as the exterior of the business and also
included the upgrade of their workshops, greatly improving the quality of
their services. A new 'drive-through' service is added allowing their clients
to exit their vehicle in a dry environment no matter what the current weather
conditions are.
